PLANT OF THE MONTH The pulsatilla is an early spring blooming perennial great for rock gardens or borders - it reaches slightly under a foot tall at maturity. Its flowers have a neat fuzzy texture and are usually purple - although i have seen white and red available. Its silvery green foliage is a unique attribute and has a soft fuzzy texture as well. Don't cut the flowers away after they fade because the seed heads that develop afterward are interesting and attractive. Plant in full sun and well draining soil. Very cold hardy (to zone 4). It is easily transplanted or divided - this can be done in the spring right after flowering.
